Need a kick start? How I Survived the Beachbody 3-Day Refresh

I have heard about the 3-Day Refresh from several different people.  Sure they all said it worked well for them, but what exactly was it?  I'm the type of person that needs to experience something myself and not just believe the "hype".  So I began my research.  What exactly is it?  According to the Beachbody,

"The 3-Day Refresh is a scientifically designed program that helps you
fast-track your weight loss, kick-start healthy eating, and get a clean
break from bad nutrition habits. 3-Day Refresh is a simple, straightforward
program that will help cleanse your body and improve the way you feel—
without starving yourself. Unlike juice cleanses or liquid fasts which tend
to be high in sugar and low in protein (leaving you feeling weak, hungry,
and sluggish), this easy-to-follow program helps support your metabolism
while nourishing your vital organs.
For 3 days you’ll follow a program of 3 shakes a day, a fiber drink, plenty
of filtered water, plus a wide array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy
fats throughout the day to keep your energy and metabolism going".

Sounds great!  I was at a point in my nutrition where I was not paying as close attention to my sugar content (candy addict) and I wanted something to give me a kick start to get back on track.  So I ordered it and said "lets do it."

The good thing about the 3-Day refresh is you eat lots of healthy food.  No protein and no dairy.  All fresh vegetables, healthy fats and fruit with the option for organic soup for dinner.  The worst part is no coffee (gasp!) but you can have herbal tea.

I think from a mental standpoint, mentally I felt deprived.  I was not hungry, I just felt confused, what was I doing to myself, where was my coffee and spree?  It was all in my head, I just sucked it up and tried to mentally get over it.  What is three days anyway?  That is a blink of an eye!  I was happy I got through the three days.  Normally I hate vegetables, so during this time I ate way more than normal and I survived :)

During this time, I kept teaching my power classes.  I was tired and didn't have as much energy so I didn't do as many poses as a typical class.  One day I had two back to back classes and after I was exhausted.  What is weird though is the tiredness was a different type of tired.  It was a body needs rest tired vs. the super yawns I get from eating sugars or bad carbs. 

By the time I got to the third day, I didn't even care anymore.  It was just another day.  No big deal. Drank my shakes, ate my fruits and veggies and went to bed.  The big thing is what happened the next day.  After I woke up and got on the scale I was very excited!  I had lost 6 pounds in 3 days!  That had never happened before.  6 pounds and no sugar cravings!  Its been about two months sense and I still have not gained the 6 pounds back (for those who claim it's just water weight).

The kick start of the 3-Day refresh was exactly what I needed.  It gave me a boost and gives me a reminder when I'm thinking about eating something I should not "do I really want to gain that weight back?"  No way I want to keep the scale going down! But now, I am enjoying my delicious coffee.

I'm still not a big vegetable eater.  However I do drink Shakeology daily which takes care of my nutrition so I don't feel so bad if I don't make a kale salad.
